Acceptable Use Policy
Computer / Internet / INTRANET & any other electronic devices that will connect to our network in any shape form or fashion
Lamar County Schools is pleased to offer access to the Internet through web pages, email, file transfer, and other web-based interfaces to employees over our district computer network. Students and visitors may be provided access to the web pages and computer-assisted instruction. We believe that the Internet will provide vast, diverse, and unique tools for educational use. Our goal in providing this service is to promote quality educational opportunities for our students, staff, and visitors by encouraging information gathering, sharing, and communication. Electronic information research and communication skills are fundamental to the preparation of future citizens and employees. Teachers can post homework, grades and offer other resources for learning including e-books.
Regulations IFBG-R describes the acceptable use procedure of the Lamar County School’s system-wide public network and Internet connections available at all facilities. All students, parents, teachers and staff members will be required to sign a Form IFBG-E.1 [Student/Parent AUP Contract] or IFBG-E.2 [Employee/Visitor Contract] each year.
This policy will be published on the Lamar County Schools Web Pages continually. An abbreviated version of this policy will be published each year in each school’s student handbooks.
Violations of Policy:
Access is a privilege and not a right. Violations of this policy by students will result in loss of use of computers for a period of time determined by administrative staff and disciplinary action according to existing disciplinary policy. Violations of this policy by staff can result in loss of use and disciplinary action against the employee. Violations of this policy by visitors will result in loss of use. Violations of a more serious nature by any person will be referred to the proper authorities and can result in further legal action.
The Lamar County School District makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or implied, for the service it is providing. Lamar County Schools will not be responsible for any damages suffered by its students, employees, or visitors as a result of use of the Internet through our school network.
