Descriptor Code: GBO
Professional Personnel Resignation
Print Policy

Professional employees of the Jasper County Board of Education may request to be released from contractual obligations.  Such requests may be directed to the immediate supervisor or to the Superintendent.  The immediate supervisor may make a recommendation to the Superintendent to accept or to deny the request based upon the best interests of the school system.

The Superintendent shall consider such recommendation.  It shall be the Superintendent’s decision as to whether a request to be released from a contract of employment before its term is presented to the Board for its consideration.

It is the Board’s philosophical base that professional personnel shall not be released unless a suitable replacement may be employed in a timely manner.  It may be determined that the release of a professional employee is in the best interest of the school system.

Any professional employee failing to honor a contract of employment may be reported to the Professional Standards Commission for appropriate action.
