The Wayne County Board of Education recognizes the importance of establishing, coordinating, and maintaining professional learning programs that address the assessed needs of all students and school and system personnel.

The Comprehensive System Improvement Plan (CSIP) of the Wayne County School System includes a plan for professional learning which addresses the assessed need of all students, and school and system personnel.

The Superintendent shall designate a member of his staff as the Professional Learning Director who shall be responsible, subject to the approval of the Superintendent, for the implementation of the plan.

The Superintendent or his or her designee shall appoint a professional learning advisory committee, the membership of which is representative of probable participants in professional learning activities.  This committee shall advise and may assist the Professional Learning Director with respect to the assessment of needs, determination of priorities, content of activities, evaluation of the program and modification of plans.

A comprehensive plan for professional learning, which shall be updated annually, shall be based on assessed need and aligned with the Comprehensive System Improvement Plan.  The plan shall be developed by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

All school system certified staff members shall participate in professional learning each school year as outlined in the system's CSIP and individual professional development plan (PDP).

The system professional learning program will follow state rules, 160-3-3-.04 and 160-3-3-.10.
