Board Policy

Public Participation in Board Meetings

Persons wishing to appear before the Board shall make such a request to the Superintendent at least three (3) business days prior to the meeting. 

The following rules pertain to public participation in Board meetings. 

  1. Matters concerning an individual school shall be discussed first with the principal of that school;
  2. If the problem cannot be resolved at the school level, it shall then be brought to the superintendent of schools, who shall provide a form on which the individual(s) identifies the request or problem and any relevant comments.
  3. If the problem cannot be resolved with the superintendent of schools, it may then be brought to the Board.
  4. Individuals addressing the Board must limit their comments to three (3) minutes. When delegations appear, only one person from each delegation shall be heard and the presentation shall not take more than three (3) minutes.
  5. All presentations to the Board are intended for the Board to hear comments or concerns without taking action.

 

News Coverage

The Board of Education believes  in keeping the public informed of its actions. Consequently, news media representatives shall be welcome to attend all regular and special meetings of the Board of Education.

Taping and videotaping shall be conducted in such a manner as to not disrupt the dignity and function of the Board meeting. If the meeting is being disrupted, the Board may direct that all taping or videotaping cease.
